Pilosocereus gounellei is a beautiful green columnar, tree-like cactus. New stems fork from its base, which over time create an interesting, spreading candelabra effect. Larger, mature plants become blue-green and produce white, funnel-shaped flowers which bloom at night. Pilocereus means hairy cereus, referring to its many golden spines and was previously called Pilocereus.
Pilosocereus gounellei – Xique-Xique Cactus Care & Info Guide
Horty Hints
Bright and beautiful! After allowing it the time to acclimatise to harsher direct rays, ensure your Pilosocereus gets lots of bright sunlight to reach its full glorious potential.
Not all cacti are fans of the desert drought! Try not to let the soil of your Pilosocereus dry out completely between waterings.
Take care when handling your Pilosocereus gounellei. The spines can be sharp enough to pierce some types of glove!
